Start From the Back Row

A stage has to read from the last seat before it reads on camera. I judge a look from the back of the room first, then through the lens.

Light Is the Architecture

Often the strongest structure on a stage is light: a grid overhead, a frame of linear fixtures, a fabric canopy that takes any color. I’d rather build with light than add scenery.

Screens Serve the Song

Content should know when to lead and when to step back. Lyrics, loops and real time scenes follow the arrangement, not the other way around.

Leave Space

Darkness and empty space are design choices. One performer, a few lines of light and a quiet room can say more than a full wall of content.

Prove It in Previs

Big decisions get tested before load-in, in previs renders and venue drawings. The room on the night should look like the plan, and the Render vs. Reality slider shows where it does.
